Worship Service Times & Styles

Each weekend, there are six worship services in two locations: Sundays at 10 a.m. at Greene-Hills School in Bristol. Saturdays at 5 p.m. and Sundays at 8, 9:30, and 11:15 a.m in the Sanctuary in Avon. There's also a service at 11:15 a.m. at the Avon Campus in The Venue. There are communal dinners on most Saturday and Tuesday evenings at the Avon Campus. We also meet as small groups and classes throughout the week.  We look forward to meeting you.

Children & Students

We encourage families to worship together on the weekend, and then choose children's programs and communities for middle school and high school students. During the week, we offer age-specific clubs and gatherings for children, middle school and high school students

There are also special events like summer camps, student retreats and the family summit that will help children and parents grow in their relationships with each other and God.

Senior Pastor Bio

Rev. Jay Abramson is the Senior Pastor at Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon, CT. Under Jay’s leadership, Valley has embraced the mission of honoring God and growing in Christ by worshipping God, equipping believers, bringing people to Christ and serving our neighbors. Jay joined the Valley staff in 1989 as the Pastor of Discipleship and became senior pastor in 1994.

Rev. Abramson attended Wheaton College and then Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN where he received a M.A. in Christian Education.

Before moving to Connecticut, he held the position of Pastor of Christian Education and Youth at Faith Covenant Church in MN for 10 years. Prior to that, he served as Camp Administrator at Lake Beauty Covenant Bible Camp in MN for 5 years.

His extensive background and interest in Christian education led him to complete his PhD in the Educational Leadership Program at the University of Connecticut.

Jay and his wife, Liz, are the proud parents of three adult sons, Nate, Jesse, and Adam. Nate is married to Cailyn and lives in North Carolina with their daughter, Isabella, and son, Noah. Adam is married to Adi and lives in Israel with their son, Yagel, and two daughters, Nuria and Annie Mae. Jesse lives in New York.
