BAPTISM

Baptism is an outward symbol of the inner commitment we have made in our heart to Jesus Christ. Baptism does not bring salvation, but it is an act of obedience to demonstrate that you have salvation. Jesus was baptized and included baptism in His Great Commission to His disciples.

Valley leaders urge those who have trusted Christ as their Savior to follow Him in baptism. Were you baptized as an infant? You can affirm the intent of your parents who baptized you with the hope that you would follow Christ by deciding to be baptized yourself.

Valley offers baptism celebrations several times each year. After completing a brief class and a baptism interview, you can be ready for this exciting step of Christian growth.

THE PROCESS:

First, choose a baptism date
. The sooner the better! Then register for a baptism class which you may attend in person or complete online.

Baptism celebrations will take place on the following dates:

>April 7/8, 2012
>August 26, 2012 -
River Baptism

Completion of a baptism class in person or online is required for baptism. Classes are led by Pastor Doug Christgau to help you understand the meaning and process of baptism and to make wise decisions about your own baptism. Deacon interviews will follow the classes on the scheduled dates. Following completion of the class or online lesson is an interview with two Deacons who will listen to you share how you became a Christian. Please plan to attend the Deacon interview on the scheduled date and time that corresponds with the class you completed. If you completed the online lesson we will contact you with the next available interview date. At least one parent of a child under 13 is asked to be present when the child meets with the deacons. This will verify that the child truly understands the Gospel and that there is a real life-change as a result. Young people (under 18 years of age) must have a signed consent form in order to be baptized.

Participate in a baptism celebration:
Invite friends and relatives to this joyous occasion, especially those from outside of Valley. The ceremony does not require you to give a speech. Your time underwater is momentary.
