PROGRAMS AND EVENTS

Tuesday Clubs

September 15, 2009 - May 18, 2010
Cost: $25/child ($15 after January 1)
Register for Tuesday Clubs.

Afternoon Clubs: 4:15-5:30 p.m.
Evening Clubs: 6:45-8 p.m.

Tuesday evenings are designed for the family: parents and children through Grade 5. Dinner is offered from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Also, Weekday Courses for adults are offered at the same time as clubs.

Children can have fun while growing in their faith through three clubs:

> Young Explorers / Tuesday, 4:15 p.m. or 6:45 p.m.
This high energy club for boys and girls, ages 4 and 5, helps them explore God's Word and the
world around them through stories, exploration around the church, singing, games, crafts and
more. We seek to find creative ways for children to learn some foundational truths about God.
The activities also foster appropriate classroom and relationship skills.

In order to register your child, he/she must have turned four by September 1.

> P31 Girls' Club / Tuesday, 4:15 p.m. or 6:45 p.m.
Based on a passage from Proverbs 31, this club for girls in Grades 1-5 is designed to help them
develop godly character while having fun and making friends. Club time is full of fun projects,
lessons, discussion and presentations. Highlights of the year include game nights, social events,
bring-a-friend days and a special mother/daughter tea. Each girl is given a sterling silver bracelet
for participating in the club. She can collect charms as she memorizes verses from Proverbs 31
   and completes special projects.

       Proverbs 31 Memory Verses:  Grade 1 / Grade 2 / Grade 3 / Grade 4 / Grade 5

Proverbs 31 Project Packets: Grade 1 / Grade 2 / Grade 3 / Grade 4 / Grade 5

> Boys' Brigade / Tuesday, 6:45 p.m. only
Led by Christian men, this is an action-packed club with projects, games and lessons for boys in
Grades 1-5 to help them become true Christ-followers. Most meetings start out with an active
game followed by either a large-group project time or classroom time. One highlight of this
program is the Pinewood Derby race held in May. Each boy makes his own car to race against
others. The boys also have social outings with their fathers, such as a bowling-and-pizza night or
   attending a ball game.

> Nursery
The Nursery is available for children, ages 3 and under, during afternoon and evening clubs.

Child Dedications

Child Dedication is typically offered three times a year at Valley — once in the fall, on Mother's Day and in August. Child Dedication classes are taught by one of our ministry team leaders.

This is an opportunity for parents to make a public declaration that they want God's perfect will to be established in the raising of their child and a chance for the church family to make a commitment to support the families in this task. If you have further questions, contact Mary Swank at 673.6826 x124.

> Sign up to attend our next six-week Child Dedication class.
     Classes begin February 23
     Dedications are May 8/9

> Submit a photo of your child for the dedication service.

Ongoing Ministries

> Cradle Club
This is an outreach ministry for new moms and their babies. We introduce them to Valley and
provide a package of small gifts and information about the nursery at the time of the visit.
 If
anyone is aware of a friend, relative or neighbor who would welcome a visit, call Mary
   Swank at 860.673.6826 x124.

> Moms of Preschoolers (MOPS)
MOPS is an international organization designed to meet the needs of mothers of young children.
The goals of MOPS are to provide support and encouragement from other moms who understand
the challenges of raising young children, celebrate motherhood and experience God’s love
through relationships and resources. The meetings occur two Mondays per month from 9:30-11:30
   a.m., September – May.
Find out more and register. Contact Catherine Finch,
   AVONMOPS@comcast.net
.

> MOPPETS
This ministry supports the MOPS program. We care for the children from birth up to five years of
age while mothers attend the MOPS meeting. The program includes an age-appropriate
   curriculum
rich with the basic teachings of the Bible, music and craft activities. Teachers are trained and
supervised by a team leader. Contact Mary Swank at 673.6826 x124 for more information.

  > Coffee Connect
Coffee Connect is a group of women who get together every other Tuesday from 4:15 - 5:30
p.m. at Valley to serve and pray.
They can be found working on jobs behind the scenes to support
the Children's Ministry as they support each other.
 Contact Terrie Burke at 860.693.9239.

> Children’s Library Hours: Sundays 10 - 10:45 a.m. and Saturdays from 6:30 - 6:50 p.m. All
children are welcome to receive a library card and check out any of the over 3,000 books, DVDs
and other materials to take home and use to learn more about God. Our library is staffed with
volunteers who are trained to use the computer and love connecting children to books.

The Library Lady is another great addition to our program. She visits the children's
Sunday Communities each month and shares books with the children on their age
   and interest level.
